The FINAL COUNTDOWN

5/17/2013

Wow!  We've gone from 1165 books out on Monday to just under 360 today.  Many of the remaining items are checked out to teachers.  However, we have approximately 100 students who STILL haven't returned their books.

Per school board policy, your report card will be held until you clear your account.  This means you either return the book or pay for the lost/damaged item.

Additionally, you will not be able to check-out books when we return to school in August.  If you are a fifth grader who thinks this doesn't apply to you...guess again.  Mrs. Harris @ Pine Mountain will collect the book or monies owed before you are allowed to check out a book from PMMS Media Center.  And she has some of the really cool books you guys have asked me for, but I didn't feel comfortable purchasing because they are more suited for a 5-8 audience rather than a K-5 audience.

Have a great summer!

WHERE's my book?

5/6/2013

Hard to believe this school year is winding down.

Mrs. Spencer and I have completed a physical inventory of all items in the Media Center.  Overdue notices were distributed to teachers.  Items on that list are not in the library;  however, we'll be happy to recheck the shelves upon request.

All student books are due back by May 8th.  Please do your best to locate and and return your books to the Media Center.  Any books not returned will result in the student's report card being held (per board policy).

Can't find your book?  Try looking in one of these places:

In the car (also check under the seats)
Under the baby’s car seat
In the trunk of the car
Under the spare tire
In the other car
In the garage
Behind or under the washing machine
Behind or under the dryer
In the stroller bag
In the recycling bin
In your folder or binder
In your backpack
In your other backpack.
In your sibling's backpack
In the reclining chair (between the arm and the seat cushion)
Under or in back of the sofa (also check under cushions)
Behind the refrigerator (because it fell off of the top)
On your bedroom bookshelf
On one of the other bookshelves
On/in your desk at home.
On/in your brother/sister’s desk
Under your bed.
Under your brother/sister’s bed
Between the sheets at the foot of your bed
Between your bed and the wall
In the dresser drawers
In the closet (check all closets)
Under the dirty clothes
In the toy box
In the dog house
In the tree house
In the back yard
In the basement
In the play house
Packed with the holiday decorations.
In the magazine rack
On the coffee table

(I'm sure you can add at least two more!)

A favorite read-a-loud from this year
Can you believe it?  Today was our last day for formal lessons and check-out in the Media Center.  Of course, we will still have various classes and groups using our space for instructional activities, but Mrs. Spencer and I must now turn our attention to inventory and closing down the library for this school year.  We will miss our frequent visitors, but look forward to tidying up our space and processing the many new books we'll have waiting for you in August. ~ Mrs. Kent
