Maker Monday - Star Wars Edition![]() Today is Star Wars Day and has absolutely no connection to the release date of the original Star Wars movie way back in 1977. Since then, the Star Wars franchise has turned out a variety of movies, books, toys, and other items. You can visit the official Star Wars site to learn more. Reader's Digest published an interesting article on the history of how Star Wars Day and the phrase "May the Fourth be With You" came to be. You can read the article here. Star Wars was created by a man named George Lucas. You can read his biography here. You can learn about all of the movies, TV shows and other items his company, Lucasfilm, owns by going here. So in honor of Star Wars Day, we're going to make our own Jedi Light Sabers. This maker activity was almost as popular as the slime table I hosted at the Smyrna Library's Kid Con event last year! Watch the video below and/or visit this site to learn how to make your very own DIY light saber from a pencil. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!
