Library Enrichment Session 1 (Groups A/B)

LESSONS:

All grade levels whole group:  Read The Book with No Pictures by BJ Novak and That is NOT a Good Idea by Mo Willems.  Review library rules and procedures in conjunction with the R.I.V.E.R. model.  Students will be given the opportunity to model do's and don'ts of library behavior. Check for understanding of certain library skills to aid with planning upcoming lessons. (Add for 2nd grade: Don't Push the Button by Bill Cotter).  Here's the link to the video I mentioned in class of Mr. Novak reading his book aloud to students.

Computer:  Log-in and change password as prompted. Students may choose  to do Alice, Kid Pix or resources from the media resource tab.

Literacy/maker space:  D.E.A.R. time, re-reading of books shared in whole group, check for understanding of book parts and publishing process, choice of chess, checkers, puzzles, drawing and Legos. Students also asked to give input on magazines being considered for purchase for the library. 


Check-outs will begin the week of 8/10.

LUNCH ENRICHMENT:

Computer:  Alice code programming or Cool Math
Maker Space:  Legos, drawing, chess, checkers, tic tac toe, or puzzles
D.E.A.R.  Time
